ABSTRACT This study was conducted to investigate the strategies for enhancing community participation in funding of secondary schools in Nsukka Education Zone. The purpose of this study was to find out the constraints that face community participation in funding of secondary schools, community school relation of activities, methods of contribution that would be adopted by the community and policies that should be initiated by the government to enhance community participation in funding of secondary schools. The population of the study consists of all the public secondary school principals, teachers; and community representatives in Nsukka Education Zone. The sample size for the study was six hundred and nineteen (619) respondents in Nsukka Education Zone. The zone was stratified into local government areas using simple random sampling techniques. For fair representation of population, forty (40) percent of the principals and teachers plus (50) percent local government areas of Nsukka Education Zone were used as the sample for the study. This gave 471 principals and teachers plus 148 community representatives which now gave a total of six hundred and nineteen (619) sample size. Four research questions and two null hypotheses were used to guide the study. The reliability of the instrument was determined at 0.871 using crobach Alpha test of reliability. Mean and standard deviation was used to test the two null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The findings of this study was to determine the constraints facing of community participation in funding of secondary schools in Nsukka Education Zone, school Community relations of activities, methods of contribution that should be adopted by the community and policies that should be initiated by the government to enhance community participation in funding of secondary schools. Based on the findings, it is recommended that government at all level; communities and private sectors should make adequate provision for the successful funding, implementation and actualization of secondary school objectives.
